History of Aasheshwar Mandir

Aasheshwar Mahadev Temple

Visiting Aasheshwar Mahadev Temple can fulfill all your wishes. This temple is about a kilometer from Nandgaon. It is said that King Parjanya Maharaj worshiped Lord Shiva here regularly and took baths in the Aasheshwar Kund. Bholenath was impressed by the devotion of the king and blessed him with five sons and all the goodness that one can have. Lord Krishna was Parjanya Maharaj’s grandson.

Shri Krishna’s Miraculous Ways

When Mahadev visited Yashoda Maiya’s Lalla, Shri Krishna, he was not allowed because of his avatar and dressing sense. Yashoda Maiya herself was scared and didn’t want Lalla to be scared too. However, as Mahadev had the “aas” to meet Krishna, he sat meditating, waiting for the opportunity. To make this event successful, Lalla started to cry and would not stop. Some people suggested to Maiya that maybe meeting Baba, who had just left, might help. Yashoda Maiya agreed and sent some people around to search for the baba. When they found him, they got him to meet Lalla. When Mahadev picked Lalla up, he started describing Shri Radha Rani, and Lalla stopped crying. This was like a miracle for the others. However, in the end, Mahadev was able to meet his beloved, Shri Krishna.

My Experience

I decided to take a walk from Nand Bhavan to Aasheshwar Temple. My experience was wonderful here. After my darshan of the Shiv Ling and the idol of Mahadev, I sat by the Kund. The water in the Kund is always cool and the surrounding is very peaceful. It was a great feeling for me to be present in the place where the greatest Gods had met on this earth. This place was heavenly.
